What you saw last night was the continued problem with this team that will ultimately lead to its demise in the playoffs. The team can't shoot. As the season progresses, games slow down and the need to score in the half court set is crucial. The Sixers can't do it and with the personnel in place, I doubt that is changing any time soon.

Agreed. I think they're marginally better than last year. The addition of Brand helps, as when he's healthy and playing at the top of his game, his midrange jumpshot, ability to take advantage of mismatches in the post, and offensive rebounding are bound to be improvements over the Reggie Evans minutes of last year. The addition of Speights also helps, as does the continued improvement of Thad.
But this team really, really, really needs that guy you can't double off of because he'll drill a shot. Our drives, our post moves, everything is more easily defended because they can pack in the paint. I really think Miller's the "expendable" piece. And by that I don't mean that he can be easily replaced, but that he's the part that needs to be upgraded with a better shooting, better defending PG for this team to take the next step. To become a true contender, I think this team needs: - To somehow get a legitimate, top 5 PG, who can drain the 3 and defend. Think Deron Williams caliber. - Young to develop into a 20 ppg legit primary wing player - Speights to develop into a legit starting C to go along with brand. 2 and 3 I think have a decent probability in happening. Ed's going to have to earn his paycheck to get #1. Comment (1)
